About the artist

After an early apprenticeship as a commercial artist under the tutelage of P. Garnier-Heraldry, Sharon began a journey to as as-yet unreached art platform. She studied drawing, figure and composition at St. Louis University while raising six crayon artists and a slide rule husband. She studied tole painting from master painter Priscilla Hauser and portrait painting from Dutch artist Johan du Toit. Her satisfaction came from mini paintings for decorating friends’ dollhouses. One of Sharon’s mini was selected for exhibition at the 1998 Winter Olympics at Nagano, Japan. Next came a succession of pastels, acrylics, oils and various art forms including pottery, stained glass, enamel, fabric and porcelain painting. She has studied with Michael Sullivan.

Still the search was not complete. After moving to California and becoming less constrained by small children, she began watercolor studies from Tom Lynch, Timothy Clark, Roland Haas, Chris Sullivan, and Dianne Walling. She began to find ways to express what is evident in her latest work, of portraits. She has studied with portrait artist Rafael Mangio.
